i live in Santa Barbara, & in Isla Vista, one of our smaller neighboring communities bounded at one end by UCSB (which i go out to now every week to use the library & visit a friend) they have, just outside the IV Parks & Recreation Department office, something called the Free Box - a wooden box divided into sections in which people can put unwanted clothes & other small items for other people to take, free & no strings attached. an earlier version of the Free Box consisted of a little shed that people could actually enter.
