Re: things you didn't pick up that still haunt you
Sun, August 7, 2005 - 8:22 PMSome years ago I was poking around in the Salvation Army store in Poway, and I came across a cardboard box full of old Turkish 78 RPM records. Wow, what a find. Why I didn't buy them then and there I can't say, other than that I was always pretty broke in those days- but you can always come up with a couple bucks when you need it, you know what I mean? Anyway, I walked away from them, but thought better of it a couple of days later. When I returned, though, the entire box was gone- someone else had bought them.
These days, whenever I listen to a CD of Turkish music from that era, which I love... yes, they haunt me!!

Re: things you didn't pick up that still haunt you
Tue, April 4, 2006 - 10:05 PMWell this one doesn't haunt me. I guess I feel almost the opposite of haunted by it. Years ago while walking a hilly trail, there was a rocky area to the side that had a nice overlooking view. And there was a small smooth stone with a little feather held to it with some rubber-band. I liked it, but I didn't take it.
Another time later and probably in some other town, I found an ordinary stone on the ground somewhere, no bigger than a poker chip. Smooth, sort of flat, and had been painted all white and then a red stripe around its middle. I took that one home. I think I still have it to this day. Somewhere at the edge of my floor, where the wall opens a bit.
I could think of no reason why someone would have painted it that way. I think that's partly why I like it.

Mon, April 24, 2006 - 12:58 PMA really great old wooden hingetop school desk that was sitting on the street for two days...I still don't know why I didn't grab it
Likewise a fantastic 70's turquoise lounge chair, although I was living in a small apartment at the time and didn't have anywhere to put it -

Thu, June 15, 2006 - 6:14 PMMail bag on the side of the freeway 24/580/80 inter change. It would have been dangerous but what was inside? A bag full of money or human body parts. I'll never know.
